Why donate?

Our team currently works with limited capacity and funding however the association needs to bridge the gap to be able to grow and pay for professional services to accomplish what is currently needed. The management team must focus on available international opportunities, network with various stakeholders, provide guidance on setting policies in place, and perform fundamental tasks creating a good foundation while still meeting the public demand for saving or removing bees, sharing information, and training. Any donations and contributions are welcome since there is a need for equipment, beehives, transport, fuel, development of local educational material as well as fridges and second-hand bee suits to assist a broad range of requests from all over Namibia.

You can donate the amount and send the proof of payment by email with your name or company’s name if you wish to list your company for marketing or recognition.

All the adopted hives with rescued bees are relocated to secure apiaries in the area where they are monitored and managed by experienced beekeepers. The hives are marked with a copper plate to identify the sponsor. We aim to have web cameras installed for 24-hour surveillance which will allow the public to be engaged with the fascinating industry of beekeeping. Sponsors can conveniently ‘check in’ on the bees and learn more. Your name will be listed on our site for recognition and marketing. The donors will receive 10% of the honey produced in the following year with bi-annual feedback. These apiaries are only accessible in the presence and discretion of the two responsible beekeepers taking charge of the site. The bees will remain in the area for environmental and conservation purposes and some of the apiaries will also be used for educational, practical training or advanced environmental research.  All future apiaries will be located to enable the bees to function optimally and will be secured with long-term written arrangements with local authorities or private institutions.

Sponsored observation hives will be used at specific predetermined sites that are unique for live and vibrant education opportunities.  This will be a long-term arrangement since they will mainly be kept indoors with hive entrances towards the exterior of buildings and will have to be maintained with special care and arrangements.

This is a great marketing opportunity;  it directly and indirectly restores a link in nature that is globally recognized to be under threat, and it contributes to biodiversity and environmental stability. The hives that are used will also be supporting people who are starting SMEs for poverty elevation in community projects.  The adopt-a-hive will be rolled out to all regions and major towns in Namibia to save bees, and provide training and research as a collaborative innovation between various sectors. The assistance of the regional representatives of the Beekeeping Association of Namibia and local authorities will identify needs, challenges and opportunities to expand this program.

Why donate?

The Beekeeping Association is a voluntary non-profit organization that is dedicated to saving bees, developing the apiculture industry, as well as education, training and contributing to a much greater cause than most people understand. We support and participate in economic progression for food security as well as towards local and global environmental stability and biodiversity, although the fascination of keeping bees and harvesting your own raw honey remains a benefit.

The industry has been fractured for decades urgently needing support from various sectors, and funding for professional services like auditors, marketing, office rent & expenses, telephone & internet services, courier services, laboratory tests and also costly trips to assist people. Training and bee rescues take a lot of time as they must be done by advanced beekeepers and professional removal teams.

Our team currently works with limited capacity and funding however the association needs to bridge the gap to be able to grow and pay for professional services to accomplish what is currently needed.
